Trachoma takes away the eyesight of 1.9 million people a year. The infection causes a roughening of the inner surface of the eyelids. This roughening can lead to pain in the eyes, breakdown of the outer surface or cornea of the eyes, and eventually leads to blindness. The blindness caused by trachoma is irreversible. Innocent children have forever lost their ability to see the wonders of this world just because of the lack of clean water available in poverty-stricken countries. Water Charity
