Charity Aid Privacy and Data Protection Policy

At Charity Aid we take the privacy of our supporters very seriously and we are committed to protecting your privacy online.

This Privacy Policy relates to personal data collected by Breast Cancer Support via our websites, membership forms, fundraising responses, emails and telephone calls. This statement explains the privacy and data protection practices which apply to all websites operated by Charity Aid, including charity-aid.org

This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal data provided to Charity Aid by any other means or via any other website. Users should be aware that if they access other websites, using the links provided, these are outside our control. If they provide personal data to other companies, the privacy polices of those companies determine the uses to which that information is put and Breast Cancer Support’s Privacy Policy will no longer apply.

How do we collect information?

We will obtain personal information from you when you enquire about our activities, register on our database, sign up to a newsletter, make a donation to us, or otherwise provide us with personal information. Charity Aid is responsible for collecting your personal information. Any information we collect is stored. However, we may sometimes share your information with our trusted service providers who are authorised to act on our behalf. We may also need to disclose your information if required to do so by law.

We use a secure server when you make a donation via our website. We also take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

Definitions

Please find below definitions of some of the terms used in the above Privacy Policy for your information and assistance.

“sensitive personal data” is defined in the DPA as meaning personal data consisting of information as to:

  • his political opinions;
  • his religious beliefs or other beliefs of a similar nature;
  • whether he is a member of a trade union (within the meaning of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992);
  • his physical or mental health or condition;
  • his sexual life;
the commission or alleged commission by him of any offence; or any proceedings for any offence committed or alleged to have been committed by him, the disposal of such proceedings or the sentence of any court in such proceedings
